Bust portraits of the two candidates, Cass and Butler, are framed by oak leaves and acorns, symbols of the Democratic party. Above the portraits is a bald eagle holding a large American flag. From behind the eagle emanate rays of light and stars.
Below the portraits are two large cornucopias, and a number of agricultural and industrial tools and implements. These include a sheaf of wheat, hammers, gear-wheel, a drawing of a column, and so forth.
On a shield below is the Democratic motto, "Principles, Not Men." Around the shield's base grow two corn stalks. |
