Portraits of HANNIBAL and CYPRIAN, with VIGNETTES ILLUSTRATING AFRICAN CHARACTER, AND WRONGS.

Complete Explanation:
An abolitionist print, asserting the nobility of the African peoples and deploring their inhumane treatment under the slave trade. There are two vignettes: "Treatment of the Africans" (top) showing African natives being beaten and abducted by slave traders, and "Hospitality of the Africans" (bottom) showing shipwrecked whites saved and nursed by African natives. Appearing in aureoles of light are bust portraits of two outstanding African historical figures, "Hannibal the Carthagenian General" and "Cyprian Bishop of Carthage."
