THE FREEDOM OF THE SEAS OUR INALIENABLE RIGHT!

A large, printer's stock cut of a defiantly patriotic motif designed for use on political banners and placards. The design features a somewhat combative-looking bald eagle, wings spread and standing on a globe. It clutches an olive branch, arrows, and a streamer with the title motto. Behind the eagle is a field of stars.

Below is printed: "Mammoth Eagle Cut. No. O. Price, electrotyped, $20.00." The Philadelphia typefounders L. Johnson and Company produced the woodcut in 1857 or 1858.
