An unfinished proof of John Binns's illuminated facsimile of the Declaration of Independence (no. 1819-1), deposited for copyright on November 4, 1818. The proof lacks the seals of North Carolina and Georgia, the portraits, the eagle, the text of the Declaration, the other inscriptions and imprints, and much of the finished detail engraving.
